Introduction

Welcome everyone to the amazing world of science! You might think science is all about test tubes and beakers, but its not. Science is a way of thinking. It is not always correct, but Science was created to help explain what happens in our world. From the vast outter reaches of space, to the tiny atoms that help make up the pencils you write with.

As you might know, or not, everything in this world and out of it, is made up of atoms. Tiny almost indestructable particles. On this web site I want to focus on the atom, or better yet different atoms. If you are a student in Physical Science you will have to know about atoms.

Boring right? Funny you should be thinking of that. I will not dissagree, though I would put it a different way. I find atoms absolutely Bohr-ring! As in Niels Bohr, a great man you will most likely have to learn about. Niels Bohr thought up a way to draw atoms quite simply. Using a small model demonstrating Protons, Neutrons and Electrons he allowed people everywere see roughly what and atom looks like.
He made it simple so that anyone who wanted to, could draw up an atom of their very own. Now there are simpler ways to draw atoms but this is an interesting and I must admit quite fun way to show the form of atoms.

There are of course other ways to draw atoms. One way is the Lewis Dot Diagram. They constitute the Atomic Symbol for an element (e.g: Cl) surrounded by dots that represent the number of valance electrons.

If there are any terms that you dont understand here, dont panic!! You can check around the main part of my site: http://physical-science.tripod.com
If you cant find what your looking for, or if the explanation doesnt make sense contact L. Rodrigues on the Contact Us page. Dont worry about disturbing me, il back to you as soon as I possibly can. Should you like to have one on one help just e-mail me and well plan a day so that I can come help you in the lab.
